This blog is a place where can come to share your ideas about your favorite books. It is also a great place to come to learn about new books. Are you looking for your next great read? Check out some of the books that are posted on this site!

Are you interested in being a part of this blog??

Step One

In order to participate, you first must read a great book that you hope to share!

Step Two

Tell us about your book! Your first posting should be your Book Review Post.  Tell us about your book and why you loved it so much. Be sure to read some professional book reviews to get a feel for how they are written. Find a professional review already written about your book, and include it in your post, but be sure to give credit to your source! Finally, include a digital image of the cover of your book.

Step Three

Make some choices. There are 6 other postings that you can choose from to include for your book….

  • Book Talk

Write a book talk for your book. Tell a little about the book in a way that will encourage others to read it. Do you remember the television show, Reading Rainbow? The kids on the show do some great book talks to encourage you to read different books! The trick is to make it sound fun and interesting, but without giving too much of the story away. When you have written your book talk, post it on the blog. Then, for the fun part!  Use a microphone and a sound recording program, to record yourself giving your booktalk. Practice it first, and be sure to use expression. Remember that you want to encourage us to read the book. Save the recording as an MP3 file and put it with your booktalk post on the blog.

  • Story Map

Complete a story map about the key story structure in your boo. Open this link to get to a form to use. Fill in the elements about your book and then copy and paste it into the blog. Another choice is to simply save it on the blog as a link. Draw and color a picture of your favorite part of your book. Scan the picture you draw and post it on the blog with your story map.

  • Character Map

Tell all about your favorite character in your book. Open this link to get to a form to use. Fill in the elements about your character and then copy and paste it into the blog. Another choice is to simply save it on the blog as a link. Draw and color a picture of your favorite character in a scene from the book. Scan the picture you draw and post it on the blog with your character map.

  • Writing

Maybe you are a budding author! Write about your book. Write a sequel or the next chapter of your book. Write a new ending. Write a letter to the author of your book, or to the main character. Re-Write the story from a different point of view; maybe write it from a different character’s perspective. Add an image of some sort to go with your writing. You can use clip art, art from a website, a photo you take, a picture you scan, or any type of image.

  • Fun

Describe a fun activity to go along with your book. Maybe it is a game you made up, or a recipe that you can cook to go along with the book. Maybe it is a fun art project that goes with the book. This post is wide open! Write about your activity on the blog and include a photo.

  • Web Links

Find some fun websites that relate to your book. Include the links on your post and tell about each one. You can choose an image from each site to include on your post.

Step Four

These ideas are only the beginning. The sky is the limit! You can choose one additional post, or all six. Maybe you have your own idea for sharing your book. That’s okay too!

Reminders!

  •  Be sure that the TITLE of each post includes the type of post and the title of your book. Your name will show up with the date, once your post is published, so you do not need to add it on the post.
  • BEGIN each post by telling us the full title, the author and/or illustrator, the publisher, and the copyright date of your book.
  • To help you, I have chosen one of my favorite books and added a post for each of these ideas at the beginning of the blog.

I cannot wait to see what you have to share!
